Beyond the Classroom’s daytime performances for students pre-K through high school feature productions by outstanding national and local performing arts companies! Aligned with many Wisconsin DPI standards, these live performances will enrich and enhance your students educational experience.

TICKET PRICES: $10/ticket for all performances, Groups of less than 10 are $15/ticket. One free chaperone ticket for every 10 paid students. Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus!

Theaterworks USA – Running Time: 60 minutes
Whatever you do, don’t let the Pigeon star in his own musical production! With a script written by Mo Willems, the creator of the #1 New York Times best-selling, Caldecott Honor award-winning “Pigeon” picture books, and featuring music by Deborah Wicks La Puma (Elephant & Piggie’s We Are in a Play!), TheaterWorksUSA‘s Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! is even more fun than staying up late and having a hot dog party! It’s not easy being the Pigeon-you never get to do ANYTHING! But when the Bus Driver has a crisis that threatens to make her passengers (gasp!) late, maybe that wily bird CAN do something. Featuring an innovative mix of songs, and feathers, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! is sure to get everyone’s wings flapping.

Shaun Boothe: live your legacy

Running Time: 60 minutes
The Live Your Legacy Series is a celebration of greatness. Shaun Boothe has created this series not just to entertain and inform, but to awaken the greatness within us all. Half TED Talk, half live concert, Shaun uses music, multimedia, and motivation to deliver powerful and transformative messages in a way that truly sticks, as he explores the life lessons we can all learn from historical and current icons. For this performance, Shaun will be focusing on athletes, including tennis great Serena Williams, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, and basketball giant Kobe Bryant. Boothe uses the life stories of these athletes to highlight themes such as leadership, success strategies, facing your fears and overcoming challenges. Your students will walk away informed, inspired and ready to take on their own challenges.

ELIXIR OF LOVE presented by the florentine opera

Florentine Opera – Running Time: 60 minutes
Bookworms vs. bullies and an energy drink as the “elixir” — this Florentine Opera original adaptation reminds us that the best person to be is YOU! The Florentine presents Donizetti’s classic comedy and romance Elixir of Love in a fun, bilingual (Italian/English) adaptation with a teen-movie twist! The Baumgartner Studio Artists bring this vibrant story to life, ensuring the art of opera is accessible and enjoyable for students of all ages. Educators and students can prepare to attend the show with the special Elixir of Love Opera Guide, available in advance of this performance for ticket holders.

Turn the poutiest of frowns upside down in this musical featuring whimsical puppets and live performers in a sweeping oceanic adventure. When Mr. Fish sets out on a quest to find Miss Clam’s missing pearl, he discovers there is more to him than his permanently plastered pout. This colorful adaptation of The New York Times bestseller is co-conceived, directed, and designed by the acclaimed puppeteers of AchesonWalsh Studios, whose work was featured in Broadway’s The King And I, On the Town, and Radio City’s New York Spectacular. Writing team includes New Victory LabWorks Residency recipients Christopher Anselmo, Jared Corak, Matt Acheson, and Fergus Walsh.

SECRETS OF SPACE

Suni and Mae are dreamers. As young girls, they dreamt about journeying far beyond our solar system, singing among the stars and discovering all that was unknown to them: the secrets of space. Using magical illusions and a state-of-the-art digital LED wall, the sisters and the audience embark on an interactive journey across the galaxy. The wonders of outer space are explored with dazzling imagery and key ideas and inventions in science, technology, and engineering. Brought to you by Cahoots NI, the award-winning team behind Danny Carmo’s Mathematical Mysteries, Secrets of Space has been developed with leading space industry experts and features curriculum connections for elementary school audiences in STEAM learning.
